Relational database app for mobile platforms with support for Chinese characters

Ekaterina Nebogina

MobiDB Database Designer, Android and Windows 10 general-purpose database app, was developed with specific customers in mind, is localized to multiple languages and supports specific characters as chinese and arabic.

About the customer

I am principal of a Real Estate and Investment company based in Hong Kong and working internationally.

Challenge

I have been using relational databases for almost 20 years. I started with Smartlist To Go for Palm, and when Palm for business has gone, I was forced to migrate to HandBase. After using HandBase for the last half dozen of years, I found that they have not adapted to the changes in the scalable, mobile platform, and not able to adapt to the Chinese Unicode language input. These two reasons forced me to investigate the alternatives and I found MobiDB to be most promising.

Solution

I am still working on transferring the information and learning how to use the database effectively as it is different from HandBase.

I use the MobiDB to track my investments, properties, contact follow-up, and for many other personal and business issues. It has been one of the apps that I use most of time, and many times a day. I also use the database to track personnel training and charitable donations as I am involved in several charitable organizations.

Benefits

Sometimes I have to share a single card or a table with others, so ease of import and export is critical for the database’s success. Importing is necessary for transferring files from one database to another.

I like to be able to view databases and work on it on my computer, or on my tablet (ipad), but I understand it is not available on iOS right now, and I hope one will come someday soon.
I use Windows for my computer, iPad for carrying around, and Android smartphone. Life is too complicated. I am trying to migrate to either all Windows on phone and computer and tablet, or all Android on all 3 levels, but right now, there are deficiencies in any one of those platforms. So, having a single app for different platforms with synchronization ability is quite convenient. No data loss or conversion to other apps or formats.

I also like your quick response to my questions or ideas servicing a client. Thank you for timely and helpful support.
